Spring Training

Here we go again!

Camryn is all geared up for another season of spectating. Picking up right where she left off.

A special shout out to my parents who showed up for the first scrimmage of the season about an hour after completing their drive home from Florida. Dedicated Number One fans!

Sneak Peek of Spring

With completely sunny skies and temperatures pushing 60, today was the perfect day to kick everyone outside for some fresh air!
{I love seeing bikes litter the front yard. It means lots of fun with lots of friends in the backyard!}
{The fun in the backyard. Among other things, football, kickball, basketball and trampoline shenanigans kept this crew busy for the better part of six hours today!}

{This lady was busy with birthday parties and play dates today. But I was able to snag her long enough for a walk around the hood. She asked if just her and I could go for a walk on every warm day. One-on-one time is good for the soul!}

We capped off the day with Jacob’s last regular season flag football game and a pork dinner fresh out of the smoker. Today was a good day!

Spring Photos

When you are obligated to take spring school photos but are not obligated to buy spring school photos, mom gives you the go ahead to mess with the photographer’s green screen set up. Green shirt on green screen equals missing body parts. The boys were all in! And if she had only owned some neon green clothing, Cam would have been too! Cute nonetheless!

January Bits

The mundane details of our January days.
{It snowed. And melted almost as quickly as it came down.}
{It snowed again. And stuck around long enough for the kids to roll around in, sled on, and build snowmen with for the day.}

{Space Lab fun! The kids all got to experience this cool school exhibit in which you feel as if you are in space when you enter that bubble!}

{This girl and her homework. I have come to grips with the fact that the only way to survive nightly first-grade math homework is with a glass of wine and a whole lotta patience. Because I might actually die trying to teach her how to count by tens if I don't have those in my bag of tricks. The struggle is real, folks.}

{100 day celebration! We made it to the 100th day in record time this year without any snow days! Camryn (front row, right-ish side) elected to wear a shawl, sweatpants, and a cozy shirt to represent being 100 years old. When I asked her how her clothes made her look 100, she replied by saying, "old people are always cold and they don't always match, so I am wearing warm clothes that don't match." She may have a point.}

{Getting cozy on the sidelines. We moved straight from soccer and basketball into football and baseball. It's a good thing this girl has been schlepped to sports outings her entire life, so she doesn't bother to put up a fight!}

{Boys night out! Jacob was at a sleepover and Camryn and I were at dinner and a school musical with friends, which left Caleb and Mason to fend for themselves. So they did at the local bowling alley/arcade. And by all accounts, that outing may be one of Mason's top 10 all-time favorite nights!}
{That sleepover I was talking about. Fun with friends!}

{Pizza Bingo at school! We love this annual event, and have finally wisened up enough to pack our own Ranch dressing to keep the girl happy. Mason won one round and may have yelled "Bingo" loud enough for the entire town to hear!}

Tumbling

The fifth and final sport that we have crammed into our winter is tumbling. Camryn is having so much fun flipping and flopping, and loves the leotards that go with it! We recently switched gyms, and the talent at this gym is incredible. Lots for our little girl to aspire to if she chooses!
I get to sit with no less than 50 other parents crammed in a tiny room watching the athletes in the fish bowl. I spy my tiny dancer halfway through a cartwheel. When did her legs get so long?!

Baseball

Baseball is in full swing with practices twice weekly for Mason in preparation of the upcoming season. He is in his element, and I love sneaking in to practices to catch him doing the sport that makes his world go round!

Soccer

Mason played indoor soccer this winter. And it seems that I didn’t bother taking a single picture. He had fun, and is now considering a career in Major League Soccer. I think he should consider a backup plan...

Warm-ish

Fifty degrees in February apparently feels topless. A well-planned half day of school goes perfectly with jumping on the trampoline. All in!

Flag Football

Jacob is playing flag football this winter, and he has had the chance to frequently play his favorite position: QB. Here are some clips from his fifth-grade highlight reel. I’m sure the college scouts will be knocking on our door any minute.

This sport makes Jacob’s eyes light up. I love watching him love the game he plays!

Basketball

Jacob played basketball this winter on a team filled with his friends. They were a scrappy group of players, and the amount of fun they had playing together made it the best season ever! The group is already talking about next season! That team name, tho.
