Snow Bunnies

We hit the slopes this morning (or as Jacob calls them: Steep Hills). And we had a great time even though we were slapped in the face with wind and cold snow. Jacob took right to sledding and was halfway down the hill before we had a chance to ask him if he wanted to ride solo or with a parent the first time. One of these days, that kid will understand the concept of caution…

Can't quite sit up

[It’s just so hard to sit up in a sled when you are little and bundled up and are being dragged down by your big brother. Does this picture bring back memories, Mom?]

Daddy and Mason Mommy and Mason

[Mason tested the slopes a few times. Laughed the whole ride down. Cried the whole way up. Like his momma, this kid prefers warm windless environments. We are a perfect match and were able to head back to the car after a few runs!]

Jacob on hill  walking up hill

[Jacob was a maniac on the hill. A flash of color zipping down to the bottom (much like Griswold in Christmas Vacation). We will be going back again soon!]

Monkey see, monkey do.

Mason greeted me this morning by saying (clear as day) “Hi, I want some apple juice.”  And since Jacob, for the past 16 months, has said that line at least 500,000 times each day, I’m completely unfazed by the whole sentence. I’m looking for originality, Mason.

Snow Angel

But, really, just a devil in disguise. I can say that. I’m his Mom.

He’s a Cool Rider

003005

Today Jacob took his first snowmobile ride with Uncle Joey. And when Uncle Joey had enough, Jacob twisted Joe Pa’s arm into giving him a spin around the neighborhood. This kid has a need for speed! And how about those redneck racing stripes? Just a little masking tape to hold the shield on the helmet. Guess after 25 years (my helmet growing up) that these things wear out.

Not exactly how we planned to use the Lego table. But, whatever.

Must have been feeling a little sideways. At least according to pictures...

On Stage

Today was Jacob’s winter gala at school. And this year I was able to snag a good seat, Jacob didn’t pick his nose for the entire performance, and Caleb made it just in time to see Jacob’s class… finish and leave. Drats! And Mason did his part in cheering on the performers by clapping at the end of each song. Super cute.

Jacob's Gala

In other Jacob news: His swim teacher bumped him up to the next level today. I kind of figured it was coming as I watched him dive for rings face first under the water as the other kiddos were trying to grab them with their toes while staying as dry as possible! This news came right before one of his classmates pooped in the water and everyone had to get out of the pool. I wish I knew that secret when I was in swimming lessons…

Growing Up

When did you realize that your baby was actually a kid? I did this weekend when I caught Jacob quietly watching a movie and munching on a snack while lying on the ground. Sigh.

He likes to wear sweatshirts with his hood up. He told me he looks cute like that. Nice.
