Still a Girl!
As I was preparing to transform Jacob’s room from blue to pink, I had a serious pregnancy freak out moment of “If this baby comes out a boy, and I spent all this time making Jacob’s room girly, I am going to flip out.” So a quick call to a corner ultrasound shop, a 15 minute appointment, and way too much money later, we have confirmation that it’s really a girl. Bring on the pink!

[A preview of our peanut. She didn’t want to give us more than a profile shot. Had to keep something to the imagination!]

Party Time!
Jacob unofficially turned four on Saturday!

[Pre-party. Streamers make everything lots more fun!]
[Our elf, Coal, got in on the action, too! He wrapped our Christmas tree (and himself) in streamers. Silly elf!]
[The customary cupcake cake, just for the birthday boy!]
[Why, haven’t we grown up? Eating our cake with a fork instead jumping in face first?]
[There is a story behind this cake…*]
[How can you not smile ear to ear when you get a BIKE for your birthday?!]
[And, just because…]
*So about that Spiderman cake: In light of keeping (some of) my sanity, I have decided that for their birthdays, the boys will pick out whichever birthday cake they want. Jacob originally wanted a princess cake, changed his mind to a Cars cake, and when he saw that Lightning McQueen had been discontinued (cruel joke, Meijer), settled on a Spiderman cake. He has never really paid much attention to Spiderman—he has one Spiderman toy, a pair of Spiderman jammies, but has NEVER watched any sort of Spiderman on TV. Oh well. His choice. So the theme was born and our house has since exploded with Spiderman balloons, napkins, streamers, and a few new Spiderman toys. And the funny thing is that Jacob has been wearing this glove and shooting people with his “web” for the past 24 hours. And to think it all started from a cake…

Adios!
Today we spent the day with my best friend of forever who is moving to Corpus Christi on Saturday. Of course I am going to miss seeing her and her boys who are almost IDENTICAL in age to my kiddos. But the idea of visiting southern Texas in the middle of winter sounds good to me, so for that reason (and only that reason) I am OK with her move.
We checked out Monkey Bizness. Clearly created by a mom who wanted to take her kids somewhere, toss them into a big room full of large climb-y, bounce-y things, and only have to pay minimal attention to the mayhem while chatting with friends. It was perfect. And, of course, the icing was the free 10 minute massage we each got. Couldn’t have planned that any better!

[The boys on our ride home. I think they were tired.]
[Our traditional belly shot. Due 4 weeks apart this time around. And when the only photographers stand at about crotch level, this is as good as it gets!]
[And our mugs. Taken in the genre of getting-ready-to-go-out-to-the-bars-in-college close up. We are as close as this picture is, and I love that!]
