Committed.

I checked myself in to sugar rehab today. Biggest. Joke. Ever. My sugar levels were well within normal limits, none of the nurses could understand why I was there for a gestational diabetes class, and my "counselor" suggested I speak to my doctor about the possibility of forgetting about the whole diagnosis. I guess that's good news that should be celebrated with a heaping bowl of ice cream!

A New Year's First

Skipping the Christmas and New Year's posts and heading straight for this:

Mason's first successful attempt at using the potty. There wasn't much to it (I am pretty sure I pee more than that when I cough) but he went on the potty and that was worth a happy dance. Now if we could just get this one out of diapers before the next installment arrives in March...

Happy Holidays!

From our family to yours! (We make parenting look like a blast, don't we?!)

This should have happened on a Monday.

Getting barfed on by a sick kid about 30 seconds after I stepped OUT of the shower was not exactly the start I was looking for. Fingers crossed for a quick recovery. And wondering just who will get this ick next...

Gestational Diabetes. Revisited.

Though I won't be meeting with a dietitian until after the new year (judge me if you must, but can you really blame me?), Caleb and I have done research online of some of the "can eat" and "must avoid" foods in the diabetic spectrum. And, happily, I think I might be good at this diet. Among the can eat: dark chocolate. And among the must avoid: cooked carrots. Maybe there is a silver lining to this diagnosis after all!

Today I love this.

On the phone with a best friend, I was explaining to her my symptoms: the nausea, the exhaustion, the puking (oh, the puking).
Her response still has me laughing: Hey, wait, do you think you might be pregnant?!
Just the break from sickness I needed!

Big Boy Bed, Take 2

Though more successful this time around, Mason still managed to make a mess of his surroundings and end up naked with the second attempt at out-of-crib sleeping. I considered this progress, tossed the mattress back in the crib, and will try it again at tomorrow’s nap. I guess some tasks are just way harder than they look!
