Cheer Comp: The almost last one.

It’s hard to believe this first season of cheer is just about over! Last {local} comp of the season before the big finale in Orlando at the beginning of May.

Camryn had lots of special guests attending this competition: grandparents and brothers were all cheering on our cheer girl, and she was even able to watch her bestie perform just a few minutes after her!

{One year in age and about two feet in size is the difference in these girls who have been friends since Cam was still in diapers! I love their friendship.}

{So at cheer comps, it is customary to walk around and secretly put clips on people’s coats, backpacks, etc. without them knowing. These three got clipped, though I can’t imagine it was a surprise!}

A couple of cheer girls walked up to the boys and asked “boyfriend or brother?” After they answered brother, one of the girls asked if she could get Jacob’s Snapchat info for a friend. Jacob asked which friend, and then responded with “Nah, I’m good.” Never expected my sweet Jacob to be causing a spike in the mental health crisis. But I also appreciate his honesty. In other news, Mason is now hooked on cheer competitions. Male hormones mixed with short skirts and tight tops are a lethal combination. And Camryn has been getting texts from her older teammates inquiring if her brothers are available to date. Either brother. Both brothers. Whichever brother. She has had enough!

{There are professional photos you can buy from all of the competitions, but at $20/photo I am ok with the copyright stamped across my sassy flyer’s body…}

{Go Trop1cs! I think Cam is bottom left.}

Camryn is 11!

And reminded us that it was exactly four years ago on her birthday that the world closed down. But this time around, it’s all about her!

Practices got in the way of a formal celebration on her actual birthday, so instead this has become the week of Camryn.

Starting with Tuesday: My mom is back in town for the big birthday extravaganza, so we had her over for dinner and cake on a night when we didn’t have to dart out for sports. Camryn picked a family staple meal of ham and zucchini for dinner. She likes the dinner, but more importantly, she knows that Mason hates it which is where the inspiration came from. The sibling love runs deep with those two…

Wednesday (her actual birthday): Cam awoke to a breakfast of Munchkins and a phone call to her dad where she opened her gifts with him over Facetime. Schedules are tricky, and gifts cannot wait to be opened! The evening was packed with sports—and Camryn said her team serenaded her on the mat in front of the entire gym before their practice routine. She said it was embarrassing, but I hope she secretly loved the attention!

Caleb’s parents came in town for the weekend where we had round two of birthday extravaganza with a side of baseball game and cheer coopetition. It was a great week to be Camryn!

February Bits

 The pieces of our February puzzle.

{Camryn’s team was invited to compete in May near Disney World. So I guess we have a trip to plan!}

{Our girl is loving cheer! Competition season is in full swing, which means lots of hairspray and red lipstick!

{Cam’s stunt group. Flying is her favorite!}

{I decided to tackle sanding and refinishing our hardwood stairs. We can always find a project to do!}

{Mason (and all of his hair) went to DC for his class trip. He said it was amazing! His favorite part: The dinner dance boat ride on the Potomac River where they actually never left the dock because their boat was broken, according to Mason. He said it might have been the best night of his life. I didn’t get many details beyond that.}

{This picture showed up on Cam’s school social media page. She said the photographer captured the exact moment when the first number on her card was finally called. This was on Valentine’s Day, hence the hippy heart glasses.}

{Camryn and Mason play hair salon more often than you would think. It might be the only time they don’t typically fight.}

{Speaking of hair… Mason tidied his up a bit. And is feeling fancy!}

{Trending: cologne. Mason’s new favorite thing is to come to cheer practice with me because he is guaranteed two hours of time where we aimlessly walk around stores and he can douse himself in all of the popular colognes. I’ve never known a boy to beg for a trip to Ulta and Sephora, until now. And while I don’t love the overpowering smell that lingers in my car long after Mason’s neck and wrists have left, I would pick that smell any day over the dirty armpit smell of so many middle schoolers… }

Not pictured: Jacob, who goes straight to his room every day after school and emerges only to eat. He might be living his best high school life. I will ask him next time I see him…
